WHEREAS, the Grand Lodge of A.F. & A.M. of Colorado was organized on August 2, 1861 the year Colorado became a U. S. Territory;

and,

WHEREAS, Colorado Masons were instrumental in the formation and establishment of the Colorado state government and its local

government entities; and,

WHEREAS, the important tenants of Colorado Masonry have always been brotherly love, relief, and truth; and,

WHEREAS, Colorado Masonic organizations have contributed over ten million dollars for scholarships for deserving Colorado students,

have established and maintained services for children with speech and hearing difficulties with over a million dollars this year

alone in association with Children’s Hospital, have supported the Knights Templar Eye Foundation providing research for sight

related disabilities, and contributed to many other important charities providing service to Colorado Residents; and,

WHEREAS, the Masons of Colorado continue to be exemplary citizens in their respective communities as well as good and faithful fathers

and family members; and,

WHEREAS, Colorado Masonry is one of the oldest continuing fraternal organizations of the state of Colorado;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that August 2011 be proclaimed to be Colorado Masonic month in celebration of its sesquicentennial.
